Since the new EU Drinking Water Directive (EU-DWD 2020), there is a need for an innovative, time-saving and reliable testing procedure for risk-based monitoring of Legionella in priority locations in private and public life. In line with the European need, inventicsDx has created a digital analytics platform that brings it all together.

The iDx LegioTest 100 is a quantitative fast track test for Legionella pneumophila SG1 and is used for the rapid and quantitative detection of Legionella in drinking water. Here, the bacteria living in the water are mechanically collected on a filter and detected by highly sensitive antibodies using the indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method.

Thanks to the high sensitivity of the assay, even the lowest amounts of legionella (less than 100 CFU/100 mL) can be detected. Our research and development team has succeeded in compressing this extensive and complex laboratory analysis to only 60 min measurement time in a fully automated system. This makes our test suitable for monitoring drinking water hygiene.

The modular instrument concept of the iDx BenchTop focuses on simple and reliable assay operation. Thanks to the innovative cartridge-based instrument concept, fully automated sample processing is possible. This lays the foundation for a high level of work safety for the user and minimizes errors during test performance. This ensures highest assay reproducibility and reliable results independent of the user. Immediately available measurement data enables rapid decision-making on site and, depending on requirements, the first hygiene management measures can be initiated.
